"fourvalleys" (fourvalleys)

.... and no mention of the legality. Lovely.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Words of wisdom: Just because it has a title does NOT mean it’s legal. If it had a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I’m sure they’d mention it. Florida is friendly, but good luck to whoever wants to take the risk. I wouldn’t.

Certain R33's are legal. We’ve gone over this before. I’m at work or I’d dig it up.

Those imported by MotoRex are considered legal by the federal government. That’s it.
Like I noted at the bottom - if this was a car imported by MotoRex, I guarantee they’d mention it.

If the seller doesn’t disclose this in the ad, it’s going to end poorly. That’s a huge restriction. Limited to 2,500 miles in any 12-month period, and I guarantee this will get additional scrutiny just for being a GT-R.

To go over the obvious list:
Certified Motors LLC is not a registered importer.
There is no R33 of any sort on the Show or Display list.
The only registered importer in Texas (the previous state on the title) is Wallace Environmental Test Lab. Legal imports is all they do, and their website seems to indicate they are above board and conform to the NHTSA laws.
There is a slight chance this is a MotoRex car but a) as the OP says it would increase the resale value, indicating someone would mention it, and b) with the modifications even that may not be enough to keep someone from seizing your car.

Excellent information.
This car is essentially the definition of a red flag. Especially now, a couple of weeks after another R33 was very publicly crushed .

Exactly. What’s worse, you can’t buy this car as a competition-only car either, because the existence of a road title is fraud.

You can’t just declare any car as a “show and display” and bring it over. There is a specific list, and no R33s are on it.

Also, the only registered importer with an approved Federalization process is JK Technologies out of Baltimore, Md., and that’s only because they purchased Motorex’s process after they went under.

Yeah, Wallace’s website basically says they only deal in gray market BMWs, Porsches and Mercedes. In both cases, it’s clear there’s no way this car could have legally gotten a clean Texas title.

This car has been around for a while. However, if it sold for what was asking last go-around, this guy is taking a wash. This car has been extremely public for several years. There are even youtube videos of it. Seems like if it was going to be crushed it would have been by now.

Interesting! You’d think the MotoRex documentation would have been treated like it was made of gold though. Either way, it seems like there would be some way to get documentation saying it was one of the few that was federally “legal.”
The state DOT can’t really tell you if the federal government is going to be cool with it.

I recall this car being for sale in Houston a couple years back for $40k on craigslist.

I know the Motorex cars given new VIN numbers. Speculating here but I would assume they would have 17 digit VINs like every other legal US car, not a 12 digit japaneese VIN.

This is not a Motorex car and it’s not a federalized car, it’s a state legal car, but it’s been here FOREVER and gone through several dealers. It’s not going to get seized.
